In Texas, the most beloved ice cream flavor is rainbow sorbet. This fruity treat is the most purchased in four states, making it a favorite for many on hot summer days. To commemorate National Ice Cream Month, grocery delivery service Instacart analyzed its data to find out the most popular ice cream flavor in each state. Vanilla ice cream is the most popular flavor in the United States, accounting for more than 26% of all ice cream sales.
To get a better understanding of what Texans like to eat, Instacart looked at which flavor had the highest relative proportion of all ice cream purchases compared to the national average. The results showed that Texans, like people from Montana, Kansas and Arkansas, prefer rainbow sorbet. Instacart also found that 24 states prefer chocolate flavors, mostly located in the Midwest and West. Oregon, Idaho, Washington and Alaska have a preference for green tea ice cream while Hawaii is unique with its preference for mango ice cream.
